Nearly two-thirds of Tampere upper-secondary students use AI weekly, survey shows
Nearly two-thirds of Tampere's upper-secondary students use AI tools at least weekly, a city survey of 1,896 pupils shows.
Nearly two-thirds of Tampere's upper-secondary students use artificial intelligence tools at least weekly, according to a city-run survey of 1,896 pupils reported by Tamperelainen.
Students say they turn to AI mainly to clarify difficult concepts, for help in mathematics and other subjects, for language practice and to brainstorm written work. Many find the tools useful for researching information and managing their time. But respondents also expressed concern about incorrect output and about reliance on AI weakening learning.
More than half said they do not know the traffic-light model meant to guide AI use in schools. Pupils want clearer, more visible rules because guidance currently varies between teachers and courses.
The city says the next step is to ensure common rules reach all students, and that AI is used responsibly and consistently to support learning.
