Nekala Library Reopens in New Cultural Center
Nekala Library opens in the Nekala Cultural Center on Monday, March 9 at 10 am, Tamperelainen reports.
The library returns to refreshed, brighter premises with more space and a broader range of materials for adults after moving to a container during renovations.
The Nekala Cultural Center also houses Nekalab coworking spaces and metal and ceramics workshops run by Tampereen seudun työväenopisto, along with a restaurant and event spaces. The Nekala library has its own entrance on the Ahlmanintie end of the building, and staff will provide normal services from day one. During the opening week the library will offer longer service hours than usual, with self-service access available outside staffed hours, and autonomous customers can open the door with their library card and PIN (registration can be done online or at the library service desk).
The Nekala Cultural Center’s opening week features a free, all-ages program from March 11–15. On March 12 at 6 pm, Nekala LIVE will be held in the center’s restaurant, with musician Timo Kämäräinen as the guest.
