New national sports media hires four editors for Tampere base

Korhonen says the project seeks genuinely new ways to cover sports, emphasizing a visual‑first approach and data‑driven storytelling through analyses, infographics, and animations. The four roles range from a data journalist who can extract meaningful stories from sports statistics to a content thinker who can analyze sport and present reasoned, thought‑provoking perspectives. A fourth role focuses on social media, managing short videos and multi‑channel content, while another seeks emotional content that frames sport within human experience and popular culture. The team aims to deliver not only daily coverage but also weekly discussion topics and features, with high standards for concise storytelling, creativity, and basic sports knowledge.

Tamperelainen adds that the new sports media will be based in Tampere at Koskitalo near Tamperelainen, with the possibility of remote work. The recruitment deadline is Sunday, March 15. Korhonen, the executive producer, notes the plan to build a diverse, multi‑faceted community that includes the group’s own Kuopio desk at Savon Sanomat and other group sports desks, plus a pool of contributors around the sports media. The project is positioned as a free national sports digital outlet launching in spring, and first pieces will appear before summer.
