Nextiili Faces Potential Closure After Move

Nextiili fears its operation could end after moving within Lielahti last November, Tamperelainen writes. Nextiili, a store that sorts and resells usable textiles and craft materials, relocated in November to Sellukatu 21 inside the Pirkanmaa Recycling Center in Lielahti. The group says customer numbers and sales have fallen by about one-third since the relocation, and many have mistaken the move and the ending of fixed textile drop-off points for a shutdown.

Nextiili began in 2015 as part of Pirkanmaa's recycling and work program and became an independent association in spring 2021. All proceeds are used to fund Nextiili's activities and employment, and to combat social exclusion, while supporting ecological sustainability and the circular economy.
