Nine Teens Chosen to Build Playhouses at Nokian Kartanonranta After 60+ Apply
Nine local teenagers were selected for a two-week playhouse-building and entrepreneurship project at Nokian Kartanonranta after more than 60 applied.
According to a press release from ePressi, more than 60 teenagers from Nokia applied to take part in a playhouse-building and entrepreneurship project at Nokian Kartanonranta. Nine local youths were chosen for the two-week programme starting in early June.
The summer project targets 14–16-year-olds, who will form small 4H companies and work in three-person teams to construct playhouses on site. JM Suomi will act as the client and purchase the finished playhouses as a contracted service, while engineering firm A-Insinöörit supplies construction drawings and planning support.
Riina Markkola, director of Vesilahden-Tottijärven 4H, said the number of applications exceeded expectations and that it was especially encouraging to see strong interest across genders.
Tuomas Salopää, head of JM Suomi's Tampere unit, said the aim is to offer a hands-on summer job where participants learn practical construction tasks alongside entrepreneurship and workplace skills. The programme runs for two weeks from early June and includes entrepreneurship training as well as on-site building experience.
Fifteen-year-old Iida said she applied to try entrepreneurial work in construction despite having little prior experience. Fourteen-year-old Nooa, one of the youngest participants, said he is excited to start and plans to spend his summer earnings on a computer.
