Noitalinna Huraa! unveils new music this spring

Noitalinna Huraa!, the 1980s cult pop-rock band formed in Peräseinäjoki, unveils a forthcoming vinyl single this spring, according to Aamulehti. The release features Haaveilija on the A-side, paired with Päivä Hautausmaalla, which was recorded on cassette before the group’s founding in 1983.

Frontwoman Sari Peltoniemi, a children's author and Finnish language teacher who lived in Lempäälä, died in July 2023 after a lengthy illness. Archival material reveals Haaveilija as the last studio cut she sang on before her death, and a 16-page fanzine will tell her story alongside the band’s history; the package also includes a cloth badge. Antti Tammela, the band’s guitarist and Peltoniemi’s husband, recalls their early days in Kauhava and the moment they put together Noitalinna Huraa!’s first song in autumn, noting the band’s rapid rise to playing Provinssirock and Tavastia.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the group recorded one more rehearsal tape with Peltoniemi, solidifying Haaveilija as part of their legacy. The vinyl release, fan zine, and band badge are planned in a limited run of 300 copies, with Peltoniemi’s story told in the accompanying 16-page fanzine, the paper notes that Antti Tammela describes as a tribute to their late frontwoman.
