Nuutti Mansukoski Sets 403 kg Finnish Squat Record at Nääshalli
Nuutti Mansukoski set a new Finnish squat record with a 403 kg lift at Nääshalli in Tampere, improving his own mark by 0.5 kg.
Nuutti Mansukoski broke his own Finnish squat record by lifting 403 kilograms at Nääshalli in Tampere on Saturday, with Iltalehti first reporting the result and Aamulehti providing the details.
He improved his personal and national mark by half a kilogram in front of a large crowd. Video of the moment shows the arena erupting as the lift stood. Afterward he dryly told viewers in a post-lift video, "It wasn't exactly my best."
The meet left Mansukoski short of his 1,000-kilogram total target. He recorded a 215 kg bench press and a 340 kg deadlift for a 958 kg combined score.
He previously squatted 402.5 kg at the classic powerlifting world championships in June and competes in the 120+ kg class. The sport is subject to doping testing.
