OP Pirkanmaan posted an operating profit of €46.3 million for H1 2026 as customers increasingly choose much longer mortgages, with loans of 29 years or more more than tripling in Q2.

Tamperelainen reports that OP Pirkanmaan posted an operating profit of €46.3 million for January–June 2026, while customers are increasingly opting for much longer home loans. Mortgages with terms of 29 years or more more than tripled in the April–June quarter.

New housing loans taken from the bank were 9.1% lower in January–June than a year earlier. Lending recovered in spring. Q2 new housing loans were 45% higher than in Q1 and 4.7% higher than Q2 2025. Customer fund investments and insurance savings rose to €2,935 million by the end of June, up from €2,400 million, an increase of 22.3%.

Loan sizes have also grown: €300,000–€400,000 mortgages increased 14.8% year-on-year, and loans above €500,000 are up 60% since 2024. OP Pirkanmaan CEO Jani Vilpponen said housing prices are currently at their lowest level relative to real incomes in the 2000s, which supports purchasing power. He added that longer loan terms can free up cash flow and enable investment, and that conditions are particularly favourable for many first‑time buyers and those moving to larger homes.

The shift follows a wider national trend, with long mortgages gaining ground elsewhere and some banks reporting a rising share of applicants choosing very long loan terms. There has also been a recent change allowing maximum mortgage terms up to 40 years recent coverage of OP Uusimaa's longer-loan trend.
