Petsun Pojat mark 30 years with monthly reunion

Petsun Pojat celebrated their 30th anniversary on March 12 in Saukkola, Aamulehti reported. The group, founded in February 1996 by men who grew up in Saukonmäki and Petsamo, meets monthly to trade stories about school days, shared hobbies and local trips. At the Saukkola reunion members walked a 'Memory Boulevard' and heard a presentation by Helin Wopi on the association's origins. They also welcomed honorary guests Päivi Huusko and Annika Sykkö. There was plenty of reminiscing. Organisers Tike and secretary Nisse were credited with keeping the gatherings orderly and lively.

Other community events included a wreath-laying at Kalevankangas on April 6 by Vapaussodan Tampereen Seudun Perinneyhdistys to mark 108 years since the Tampere fighting ended. The group highlighted the April 24, 1918 burials of soldiers in Stockholm, framing their work as preserving wartime memory in a spirit of peace. Kangasalan Äijien closed their spring exercise season at Kuohussa on April 8 with song, gifts and a group photo. Siurolan Matin's April 1 record-request concert at Peurankallio paired music with coffee and raspberry pastries. Nearly 100 guests attended coffee in the Reservists' Office meeting room on April 1 to celebrate Juha Moijanen's 70th birthday and his long voluntary service in regional defence organisations. Attendees noted growing interest in reservist activities amid an uncertain international situation. The gathering remained cordial; no weapons were displayed.
