Pirha may buy eight disability-care properties from a Tampere foundation to secure group homes in Tampere and Mänttä‑Vilppula.

When Pirha’s corporate and facilities subcommittee meets on Tuesday, members will consider a proposal that could transfer control of eight disability-care properties to the regional wellbeing services organisation. Aamulehti reports the move would potentially secure several group homes in Tampere and Mänttä‑Vilppula.

The buildings are owned by the Tampere Foundation for the Housing Support of People with Intellectual Disabilities. The foundation has offered Pirha the eight properties along with the related land lease rights. Seven sites are in Tampere and one in Mänttä‑Vilppula. Pirha already rents space at several of the locations.

The debt-free sale price is about €1.5 million. There are roughly €420,000 in outstanding loans and an estimated €500,000 needed for basic renovations, figures Pirha has already included in its investment plan.

The properties house a mix of group homes and services: 11- and 15-place units, a 12-place children and youth unit, and a day activity unit operated by Pihlajalinna. Some operations are being relocated to new premises in Kauppi because of building condition issues.

The proposal follows other recent moves by Pirha. It recently ended a Tempore staffing deal and divested a small Numera stake after procurement rule changes see earlier coverage. The organisation has also taken part in local property transactions, including the sale of the Kauppi health centre plot reported in August.
