Passport appointment slots in Pirkanmaa remain available, with Tampere and nearby towns typically three to four weeks away and some renewals possible without a police visit in 2025.

Passport appointment slots in Pirkanmaa are currently reachable, with Tampere, Ikaalinen and Valkeakoski about three weeks away, Kangasala around four weeks, and Sastamala by early May, Aamulehti reports. Koskelan, head of permits at the Central Finland Police Department, says renewals for passports or identity cards are progressing relatively smoothly.

Waiting times vary by office: Tampere is open five days a week, Kangasala four, and the other stations two to three days. Customers can book appointments roughly 3–6 weeks ahead. In January–February Pirkanmaa had about 5,500 appointment times available. On open days Tampere sees about 150 turn-number customers, and Kangasala about 30–40. Some renewals do not require a visit; for example in 2025 about 30 percent of applications were handled without a police station visit.
