Pirkkalaispatsaat Statues Wrapped in Manse PP Scarves Ahead of Superpesis Decider
Statues on Hämeensilta were draped in Manse PP scarves on Friday as a public show of support ahead of Saturday's decisive women's Superpesis final in Seinäjoki.
On Friday morning the Pirkkalaispatsaat on Hämeensilta were draped in Manse PP scarves. Manse PP said the gesture celebrates an exceptional women's Superpesis season and honours the athletes competing in the best-of-five final against Jussittaret. About 5,000 spectators are expected for the fifth game in Seinäjoki. If reached, it would be the largest crowd in the history of women's Finnish baseball. The scarves will remain on the statues into early next week, a visible reminder of how prominent women's elite sport has become in Finland. Manse PP reached the final after Lina Olenius's home run in the semifinals that sealed their spot. The series has been closely followed since it began Friday with Jussittaret as favourites.
