Filming has begun in Tampere on Yle's six-part crime series Kuollut nainen puhuu, which follows two podcast journalists reopening a 1980s murder; episodes are due on Yle Areena in late 2027.

The six-part Yle crime series Kuollut nainen puhuu follows two podcast journalists, Olivia (Senna Vodzogbe) and Noora (Veera Anttila), who probe a decades-old murder after a mysterious C-cassette appears at their newsroom. The investigation into an 1980s crime reopens old wounds in a small community, places the reporters in danger and drives their mission to give voice to silenced women.

Filming is under way in Tampere, with episodes due on Yle Areena in late 2027, the production company Helsinki-filmi says.

Marja Pyykkö, who directs the series, says it aims to refresh the thriller genre. "Kuollut nainen puhuu brings a welcome change to the thriller genre. As investigators they are two young people whose main motive is to make the world more equal and safer for women. The inner fire that drives Noora and Olivia is contagious, and viewers root for them even when they rush in unprepared or hope perhaps a little too optimistically."

The cast includes Emmi Parviainen, Tommi Korpela, Amira Khalifa, Samuel Kujala, Taisto Oksanen, Carlos Orjuela, Tanjalotta Räikkä and Aimo Räsänen. Creators Johanna Holvikallio and Tua Harno, the series' head writer, lead a writing team that also features Katri Järvelä and Laura Eklund Nhaga; Reeta Annala contributed the original idea. The show is set in Helsinki and the fictional Kallan village but is currently shooting scenes in Tampere.

Produced by Helsinki-filmi, the series will have post-production work carried out in Estonia in cooperation with Cuba Films. Financing comes from Yle and other Nordic public broadcasters, alongside supporters including Business Tampere, the City of Tampere, Nordisk Film & TV Fond, the Finnish Film Foundation, Film Estonia and the Council of Europe Pilot Programme for Series Co-Productions. The production builds on the city's record production incentive for 'Blood & Sweat' to attract television projects to Tampere. A media location visit is scheduled in Ylöjärvi on 28 September 2027.
