Veteran Finnish rock band Popeda will release a new studio album in spring 2027, with the first single "Rakkauden meisseli" due early in the year.

ePressi reported that veteran rock band Popeda will release a new studio album in spring 2027, with the opening single "Rakkauden meisseli" slated for early in the year. Recordings took place during 2026, and the group plans to issue several more singles before the full album arrives. It's their first studio album in about a decade.

Sessions were recorded at Finnvox Studios with producer Joonas Parkkonen, known for his work with Blind Channel, Lost Society and Apocalyptica. Songwriting credits on the record include guitarist Costello Hautamäki, Parkkonen, vocalist Olli Herman and bassist Alex Hautamäki, along with writers Mikko Karjalainen, Antti Kleemola, Samuli Sirviö and Janne Rintala.

Costello Hautamäki said it felt good to return to new material, and that several of the new tracks have already been road-tested in concert. He praised Parkkonen for bringing extra depth and an international edge to the songs, adding that while the sound has evolved, the band still keeps its familiar rock identity. "When we got a lot of depth and internationalism into the album’s sound from Joonas Parkkonen, we can say Popeda 2.0 is here," Hautamäki said.

Popeda will tour Finland this autumn and early winter, beginning at Himos Areena on 31 October and concluding at Pakkahuone in Tampere on 19 December. Stops include venues such as Tavastia and Hype Areena. The band plans to add several new, unreleased songs from the spring album to the setlist.
