Portable saunas planned for Rauhaniemi during renovation

Rauhaniemi public bath in Tampere may keep saunas running during its renovation by installing portable saunas, Aamulehti reports. The latest lease with the city allows one or more portable saunas to be set up during the works, though concrete plans and timelines remain undecided.

The paper notes that TaTU chairman Jussi Saukko says the project is still only in the planning stage and it is not yet known what kind of saunas will be used or when. The plan would aim for multiple saunas, with details to be announced this spring, according to the report.

Even though the lease with the city is in place, a building permit is still missing, and the area will become a construction site from early April. If realized, portable saunas would likely be placed near the current outdoor gym, on the west side of the sauna building, the article notes.
