A man in his 40s is accused of killing a person in a Sastamala apartment on 1 August after beating them for hours and repeatedly striking them with an electric guitar.
Prosecutors are asking Pirkanmaa district court to sentence him to life imprisonment, YLE reports.
The indictment says the accused directed extremely violent, prolonged attacks at the victim’s head and torso, using blows, kicks and strikes with the guitar. The incident took place in an apartment on Kannintie in Sastamala.
Prosecutors say the combined head and chest injuries caused the victim’s death several hours later. They argue the assault was so forceful and sustained it shows a determined intent to kill and should be treated as murder rather than manslaughter, because the victim was defenseless, vital areas were targeted and death did not follow quickly, causing significant pain.
