Pyynikin Brewing halts operations as company posts nearly €800,000 negative equity
Pyynikin Brewing has ended operations and halted beer production in Estonia after reporting heavy losses that left the company’s equity nearly €800,000 negative by the end of 2025.
Pyynikin Brewing has ended operations and stopped beer production in Estonia. The company has laid off staff and sold assets as it winds down.
CEO Juhani Tamminen told YLE the shutdown measures cut losses by "hundreds of thousands of euros" and called the outcome "an incredible achievement." Financial statements show a loss of €98,000 in 2025, after about €620,000 in losses in 2024 and €240,000 in 2023. Equity was nearly €800,000 negative at the end of 2025.
The closure follows a turbulent period for the Pyynikki brand: the original craft brewery went bankrupt in 2022 after rapid expansion and heavy losses, and founder Tuomas Pere received a conditional prison sentence this year for financial crimes tied to related companies. Tamminen said the Pyynikki name still has value; Pyynikin Brewhouse restaurants operate in Tampere and Jyväskylä, and he expects the brand could return in some form.
Aamulehti first reported the shutdown.
