Pyynikki's Harmony Sisters Draws 25,700 and Earns Rave Reviews

Harmony Sisters drew about 25,700 spectators to Joselininniemi and generated unusually warm, praise-heavy feedback, Pyynikin kesäteatteri said. "The response from audiences has been exceptionally warm and laudatory," said Piia Soikkeli, managing director of Pyynikin kesäteatteri. She added that many viewers singled out the production as a high-quality, professionally executed whole and that the venue could have held even more spectators. The production premiered on 10 June and follows the theatre's June premiere announcement.

Olka Horila adapted the musical from plays by Elina Snicker and also directed the production. Niina Alitalo arranged the music, composed the scene music and led the musical rehearsals. The lead singing sisters were Anna-Sofia Tuominen, Nomi Enckell and Matleena Junttanen, with Anna-Maija Tuokko as their mother.

Supporting performers included Petra Ahola, Petja Pulkkinen, Kai Vaine and Jaakko Wuolijoki, alongside music theatre students from Tampere University of Applied Sciences: Anna Arola, Saana Heino, Antti Heinonen, Roosa Kari and Olli Tulkki. Child alternates rotated in the small roles.

Although the season has ended, teardown at Pyynikki has begun and planning for next summer's production is already under way, Soikkeli said. Pyynikki will present a lively comedy next year, with the 2027 play to be announced in October. Pyynikin kesäteatteri Oy is equally owned by Tampereen Teatteri oy, Tampereen Työväen Teatteri oy and the Eino Salmelainen Foundation.
