Sirkka Pohjantalo Returns at Pyynikki; Komediateatteri Revives Ray Cooney Farce on June 9, 2027

Pyynikki Summer Theatre and Tampereen Komediateatteri will open bawdy comedies in early June 2027.

At Pyynikki, Kontio and Parmas will present Sirkan Social and Health Services and Peace, reviving the outspoken health centre doctor Sirkka Pohjantalo (played by Kaisa Hela) from the Kummeli TV series after a multi-year break. Director Riku Suokas says the show leans into the same anarchic, no-normal-characters humour as the TV material; writer Heikki Vihinen notes Sirkka was an obvious lead because she generated the most audience feedback. The cast includes Heikki Hela, Mari Perankoski, Jouni Hynynen, Mari Turunen and Jari Ahola. The production pays tribute to the late Heikki Silvennoinen through its music and sound design.

Tampereen Komediateatteri will stage Ray Cooney’s farce Caught in the Net (Linjat kuumina), a revival of a production last seen there in 2006. The plot follows a Tampere taxi driver (Lauri Ketonen) juggling two homes in Tesoma and Hervanta until an upstairs lodger (Janne Kataja) becomes entangled and drags his father (Aimo Räsänen) into increasingly outrageous situations. Chaos ensues. Kataja, returning after the successful 2025 farce Money Out of Thin Air, was drawn back by the strong ensemble and the theatre’s lively audiences. The production is directed by Panu Raipia and translated by Mikko Viherjuuri. Petra Karjalainen, Heidi Kiviharju, Idalilja Raipia and Eelis Kakkonen are also in the cast.

Pyynikki's premiere was first announced earlier this autumn when the theatre revealed its summer lineup; Komediateatteri's plans for the Cooney revival were also flagged in our previous programming report about the theatre's early‑June season schedule.
