Renovated Tullikamari to reopen for Tampere Jazz Happening
Renovation of the Tullikamari Cultural Centre is on schedule: construction is due to finish by the end of August 2026 with handover in early September, and the venue is planned to reopen to the public for the Tampere Jazz Happening (29 Oct–1 Nov 2026) if approvals proceed as planned.
The renovation of the Tullikamari Cultural Centre in Tampere is proceeding on schedule, with construction due to finish by the end of August 2026 and facilities expected to be handed over in early September 2026. That timetable comes from the City of Tampere.
Work includes a new basement level, upgraded technical systems, improved acoustic solutions and better accessibility and safety measures for the Pakkahuone and Klubi venues. The handover cannot proceed until the City of Tampere Building Control approves the inspections and all required handover stages are complete; if approvals go as planned, Tullikamari will open to the public in connection with the Tampere Jazz Happening from 29 October to 1 November 2026. According to Aamulehti, ticket sales for the autumn concerts will start this week, with sales for the first autumn gigs beginning on Wednesday 15 April, while the full autumn programme will be released step by step.
Aamulehti adds that the renovation will also change how visitors move around inside the venues. In Pakkahuone, for example, the staircase leading to the hall will be widened, new restroom facilities will be built, and a small gallery space will be removed. Aamulehti also places the project in context, noting that before the renovation Tullikamari drew nearly 200,000 visitors a year, with thousands of events hosted over roughly three decades.
The start of the reopening season will include concerts during the Tampere Jazz Happening window, and Aamulehti lists examples from the autumn programme for the venue such as Asa, Graham Bonnet and Apulanta in November, as well as Peer Günt and BÄMÄ in December. Aamulehti quotes Janne Laurila on the programme and the reopening plans.
Kulttuurikamari Oy will publish the Pakkahuone and Klubi programme on Monday, 13 April 2026, and the full festival programme is due in September 2026. Aamulehti further notes that Hang The DJ and Big Pop will return to Tullikamari after a temporary stay at Tavara-asema.
