Tullikamari Reopens After €13.7 Million Renovation, Set to Host 45th Tampere Jazz Happening
Tullikamari will reopen at the start of September after a €13.7 million renovation that updated safety, accessibility and building systems while preserving the venue's culturally valuable features.
The city has completed a €13.7 million renovation of Tullikamari and will reopen the legendary venue at the start of September after an on-schedule finish. The overhaul brings the building up to modern event, safety and accessibility standards while preserving its culturally valuable features.
Work included a new roof, upgraded building systems, a new elevator and refreshed interior surfaces. More than 500 professionals took part in the renovation. "I am happy the work finished on schedule," said Minnakaisa Kuivalainen, executive director of Tampere Music Festivals.
Operator Tampereen Kulttuurikamari Oy will continue to run Tullikamari. The city ended its temporary lease of about 577 square metres in the Finlayson area at the end of September.
The rebuilt venue's first major event will be the 45th Tampere Jazz Happening from 29 October to 1 November. The festival programme will be published on 1 September. "We are really excited to be staging events again in the renovated Tullikamari; the house has received the overhaul it deserved and the new solutions will improve comfort and functionality," said Janne Laurila, programme manager at Tampereen Kulttuurikamari Oy.
