Aamulehti reported that rescue units were dispatched at 16:19 to Highway 3 in Tampere's Kalkku after a traffic accident on the Western Ring Road, between the Pitkäniemi and Kalkku junctions. Fintraffic's Tampere road traffic centre alerted authorities.
The Pirkanmaa Rescue Department said it received the alarm at 16:19 and that crews were en route. No information on injuries or the cause of the collision was immediately available, and authorities have released no further details.
According to Tamperelainen, the crash involved a truck sideswiping a car after the truck changed lanes near Kalkku before 5pm on Thursday. It reports that only the drivers were in the vehicles, and that paramedics examined both drivers and found no injuries. Tamperelainen also notes that both vehicles remained drivable.
The paper adds that one of the three traffic lanes was closed briefly, and that traffic had returned to normal by 5pm after the scene was cleared.
The Western Ring Road has seen several recent collisions, including a multi‑car crash in Pirkkala last month and a rear‑end collision in August where three people were unhurt.
