Multi-car crash snarls Tampere western ring road in Pirkkala

Shortly before 2 PM on Friday, a multi-car collision blocked lanes on the Tampere western ring road in Pirkkala at the Rajasalmi bridge, YLE reports. Tamperelainen says six passenger cars were involved. No one has been seriously injured, the rescue department said. Seven rescue units and multiple police and ambulance crews responded to the scene. Officers are directing traffic as motorists face heavy delays, with the Jyväskylä-bound lanes particularly affected and only one lane partially open. Three people were taken to hospital for further examinations, Tamperelainen reports. Police are investigating the cause of the crash. Fintraffic's road traffic centre places the incident on road 3, just under three kilometres from the Pitkäniemi junction toward the Rajaniemi junction.
