Tammelan stadion was named the Women's League Stadium of the Year this season. Ilves lost their final home match 4–0 to HPS in Tampere on Sunday, Aamulehti reported.
Ilves captain Aino Rasinen said the team did not produce its best performance and could have done much better, but she praised the season overall, since the main objective, retaining their place in the top division, was achieved comfortably.
Tessa Perttula opened the scoring in the 26th minute. Anna-Stina Simonen, Olivia Kåhre and late substitute Milla Punsar added goals as the visitors dominated.
The stadium award was presented to stadium manager Toni Hevonkorpi during a men's league match on Saturday. Rasinen welcomed the recognition, saying the stadium's high-quality facilities make training and match life noticeably better for players and give Ilves a strong foundation to build on next season.
The award follows lower-division clubs TamU and TPV moving their home matches to Kauppi this season, leaving Ilves as Tammela's sole tenant earlier move to Kauppi.
