Tammerkoski, Tampere Hall and Näsinneula to glow green for World Mental Health Day
Tammerkoski, Tampere Hall and the Näsinneula tower will be lit green on October 10 for World Mental Health Day, with related events starting the night before at Nokia Arena.
'What do you really feel?' is this year's World Mental Health Day theme. Tampere will mark the day on October 10 by illuminating Tammerkoski, Tampere Hall and the Näsinneula tower in green.
Celebrations begin a day earlier at Nokia Arena with the Green Game, the Ilves–Lukko match. Organisers plan videos and the involvement of staff and volunteers. Spectators are encouraged to wear green, and Ilves will host an information point and collect donations ahead of World Mental Health Day as previously reported.
The initiative aims to spark conversation about mental health, reduce stigma and remind people that everyone has the right to receive help, says Pirkanmaan Mielenterveys ry.
Local crisis centres Kriisikeskus Osviitta and Tukitalo Sastamala handled about 4,800 client visits and answered roughly 9,700 crisis calls last year. Nearly 200 volunteers supported that work. Support is available face-to-face, remotely and through national services such as the Crisis Helpline and Sekasin chat.
World Mental Health Day has been observed since 1992 by the World Federation for Mental Health and the World Health Organization. In Finland, the day is coordinated by Mieli Suomen Mielenterveys ry.
