According to the City of Tampere, the temporary bridge over the Tammerkoski rapids will be closed on 22–23 October for the opening programme of the Tampere Festival of Lights. On Friday 23 October the bridge will host the chamber opera Naisen ääni (English title: Her Voice), and the structure will also be used for the event’s technical arrangements.
Pedestrians and cyclists will be routed across Tammerkoski via Hämeensilta and Satakunnansilta, the city says. Signage will mark the temporary traffic arrangements.
The bridge was installed in July 2026 as part of the Valssipadonraitti renovation to widen Valssipadonraitti, and its construction was reported earlier in the summer temporary bridge installation. Normal pedestrian and cycling use resumes on 24 October 2026. The city apologises for any inconvenience caused.
The City of Tampere says the closure specifically accommodates the Valoviikot opening events in central Tampere. The Valssipadonraitti renovation – including widening and upgrading walkways and bridges – will continue through 2028 to improve space for pedestrians and cyclists and to enhance access to the Tammerkoski national landscape.
