Tampere Asks Residents to Rate This Winter’s Street and Cycle Path Clearing

The City of Tampere is asking residents to evaluate this winter’s clearing of streets, cycle paths and pavements in its annual winter maintenance survey. An English version is available, and those who complete the questionnaire can enter a gift-card draw via a separate form.

The survey asks people to score the quality of paths and the time taken to return them to passable condition on a scale from 0 to 5, and provides space for open comments and concrete observations.

Maintenance engineer Lassi Jokinen said the city hopes to hear from as many residents as possible, noting that weather changes quickly and feedback provides valuable information about how well its actions meet everyday needs.

City officials use the responses to guide continuous improvements to winter maintenance, which affects daily mobility for all residents. Last spring’s survey recorded 825 responses and showed the highest satisfaction level in five years, with main streets rated most highly.

Construction manager Petri Kujala and works manager Jussi Pesonen of Tampereen Infra said last year’s feedback led to a particular focus on improving snow plowing and ensuring timely anti-slip treatment. They added that continued input from residents is needed to keep developing services.
