Tampere-owned parking company Ruutuluotsi began enforcing parking rules in several Helsinki Port areas in October while also expanding operations in Tampere.

Ruutuluotsi, set up by city-owned Finnpark in May, began enforcing parking in October at several Helsinki Port areas, including Eteläsatama, Katajanokka, Länsisatama, Hernesaari and Vuosaari. Tamperelainen reported the move.

The company launched operations in Tampere in May, patrolling sites such as the Tampere Railway Station yard, Tullintori, Hatanpään valtatie 36, Polttimonparkki and Ratapihan parkki. It now oversees nearly 20 parking areas. Ruutuluotsi is negotiating additional enforcement locations around Finland, and more Tampere sites are planned for late 2026. The team began with three employees and has grown to around a dozen staff nationwide.

Finnpark, which operates 30 parking facilities and more than 20,000 parking spaces across Finland, owns Ruutuluotsi. Earlier this year Finnpark said it would widen parking bays in Tampere after a customer survey that asked drivers for clearer signage and larger spaces. "We target clear parking violations, but alongside enforcement we also aim to prevent mistakes by guiding drivers," said Jukka Isomäki, who leads Ruutuluotsi's enforcement operations. Finnpark reported revenue of just under 30 million euros in 2024 and employs nearly 80 people.
