Finnpark to widen parking bays in Tampere after customer survey
Some parking bays in Tampere will be widened after a July survey of Moovy app users found high overall satisfaction but a clear call for larger spaces, clearer signage and better availability.
A July 2026 survey of 3,587 Moovy app users found 90 percent were somewhat or very satisfied with Finnpark's parking garages in Tampere, Tamperelainen reports.
Customers praised the garages' locations, ease of use and simple payment options. They asked for clearer signage, better availability and larger parking bays. Younger respondents were somewhat more accepting of current prices, while older drivers rated pricing more critically. Finnpark CEO Antti Marttila said he understands concerns about costs, pointing to investment, electricity, security and maintenance as drivers of garage pricing. The company has already expanded a few bays into larger spaces at older sites, and plans further upgrades tied to projects around the railway station, the P‑Hämppi expansion and a new underground drive from Viinikankatu.
The upgrades come as the city has been moving long-term downtown parking underground and planning to expand P‑Hämppi the longer-term parking strategy. They also follow recent trials that converted some curbside spaces into temporary seating and planters this summer provoking debate on street parking.
