Tampere rolls out account-based travel cards; Nella.fi tickets appear instantly
Tampere has begun issuing account-based travel cards and is converting existing cards in stages. New cards are managed via Nella.fi and tickets bought there appear immediately on account-based cards.
Tampere has begun rolling out account-based travel cards across its public transport network, with all new cards now issued as account-based and a phased conversion of existing cards underway.
The system stores ticket and customer group information in a back-end platform rather than on the physical card, and users can manage their cards online through Nella.fi. This follows earlier city guidance to switch from the Nella Mobiili app to Nella.fi issued when Nysse planned to close the Nella Mobiili app.
Tickets bought in Nella.fi appear immediately on account-based cards instead of after a two-hour delay. Lost cards can be closed and later reactivated by the customer.
Old cards will be converted at ticket machines in stages, starting with small batches and proceeding automatically by card number. Customers cannot request an earlier switch for their own cards.
Ticket sales channels remain unchanged: passengers can still use the Nysse Mobiili app, contactless payments, advance tickets and event tickets as before.
