Tampere seeks nominations for 2026 Adult of the Year, celebrating those who listen to young people

The city is seeking nominations for its 2026 Adult of the Year award, with entries accepted online until Sunday 18 October 2026. This year’s prize will honour a person or organisation that listens to children and young people and is present in their everyday lives.
Anyone can nominate via the online form. The Culture and Leisure Committee will choose the recipient, with input from a group of young people who will help define which qualities to emphasise.
Mika Vuori, the city's planning manager, urged nominators to describe candidates’ achievements carefully so the selection panel can gain a clear sense of each nominee. The winner will be announced at the end of November 2026.
The announcement comes after recent local participation efforts, including the city's youth council candidate search launched in September, and regional nomination drives such as Pirkanmaa’s Employer of the Year which opened nominations this month.
