Tampere to hold municipal income tax at 7.60% and keep property rates unchanged in 2027
A city board has proposed keeping Tampere's municipal income tax at 7.60% and leaving property tax rates unchanged for 2027; the city council will vote on the proposal on 16 November.
A city board has proposed holding the municipal income tax at 7.60 percent and keeping property tax rates at 2026 levels for 2027, ahead of the council vote on 16 November, Tamperelainen reports.
City officials estimate municipal income tax receipts will total about €506 million in 2027, roughly five percent higher than the 2026 year-end forecast. Property tax revenue is projected to rise to €109 million, about €6 million more than the 2026 estimate. Officials say the increase stems mainly from an expected 4.8 percent rise in earned income in Tampere and from uncertainty over the tax treatment of hospital properties.
Under the proposal, specific property tax rates would remain unchanged: general land 1.30 percent, buildings 1.25 percent, permanent residential buildings 0.65 percent, other residential buildings 1.10 percent, power plants 3.00 percent, non-profit organizations 0.40 percent and undeveloped building plots 5.00 percent. The city council will decide whether to approve the proposal at its 16 November meeting.
