Tamperelainen asks Pirkanmaa’s long-term unemployed to share daily job-hunting struggles

Earlier coverage highlighted that long-term joblessness is notably high in our recent unemployment report. Official figures show 35,298 unemployed jobseekers in Pirkanmaa in August. That is 5,388 more than a year earlier, according to the Sisä-Suomen elinvoimakeskus.

In August, foresight expert Juha Salminen told Tamperelainen that over 40 percent of jobseekers have been without work for more than a year and one in six for over two years. He warned any easing will probably be slow and could take a couple of years.
