Temporary Nurse Allegedly Attacks Two Colleagues at Tampere University Hospital, Police Report Filed
A temporary nurse at Tampere University Hospital allegedly assaulted two colleagues while intoxicated on June 17; a police report has been filed and the hospital is investigating.
Reporting by YLE and Iltalehti says that on June 17 a temporary nurse at Tampere University Hospital allegedly assaulted two colleagues while intoxicated.
Two nurses noticed their colleague behaving unusually and were attacked after asking whether the person was drunk. One sustained a wrist injury and the other suffered bruising. The nurse was given a breathalyser test and removed from hospital grounds.
Pirkanmaa wellbeing services county HR director Aija Tuimala confirmed the worker was a short-term substitute, not a permanent employee, and said the case is under investigation. She added that staff suspected of being intoxicated are always removed from patient care. Internal handling began in June, even though a formal review did not start until late August.
A police report has been filed with the Police of Central Finland, and Chief Inspector Pasi Nieminen said the incident was recorded as two assaults. Tuimala would not say whether the nurse remains employed while the inquiry continues.
