Three Ilves Players Named to Finland U18 Hlinka Roster

Ilves announced that defender Roni Kuukasjärvi (17) and forwards Miska Liljeberg (17) and Max Poikela (16) have been selected for Finland’s under-18 national team for the Hlinka Gretzky Cup in Edmonton, Canada, which runs Aug 3 to 8.

The trio trained with Finland's U18 squad at Vierumäki from July 25 to 29. The club supplied the third-most players to the roster.

The tournament features top under-18 national teams, including hosts Canada, Sweden, Germany, Slovakia, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and the USA.

Finland’s pool games are scheduled against Germany (Aug 4 at 00:00 Finnish time), the USA (Aug 5 at 04:00) and the Czech Republic (Aug 6 at 00:00). Edmonton is nine hours behind Finland.

Ilves has three players, defenseman Urho Kuukka (16) and forwards Oliver Niemi (16) and Elias Oksanen (16), invited to Finland’s under-17 training camp at Vierumäki from Aug 5 to 9.
