St. Louis Prospect Adam Jecho Enters NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program, Will Miss Blues' Training Camp
St. Louis Blues prospect Adam Jecho has entered the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program and will miss the Blues' training camp, Tamperelainen reports.
The NHL said on its website last week that Adam Jecho has entered the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program and will not take part in the St. Louis Blues' training camp. Tamperelainen first reported the development.
The Blues' 2024 third-round pick can return to competition as soon as program administrators clear him to play. The league has not disclosed why he was placed in the program.
The player assistance program, in place since 1996, provides support for players facing mental-health, substance or other personal challenges. Finnish forward Patrik Laine was last in the program in 2024 when Barkov urged a roster spot for Laine.
The 20-year-old Jecho is expected to spend the coming season in the American Hockey League after three seasons with the WHL's Edmonton Oil Kings. Last season he posted 36 points (10+26) in 47 games. He developed part of his game in Tampere with Tappara's junior teams from 2021–23, scoring 47 points (21+26) in 37 games in the 2022–23 Under-18 Finnish championship. He signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Blues in summer 2025.
