Two Divers Die After Being Found Waist-Deep in Mallasvesi
Two divers were found unresponsive in shallow water at Mallasvesi in Valkeakoski on March 28 and later died.
On March 28, bystanders called emergency services at 13:45 after seeing two people floating in full diving gear close to the shore, the Pirkanmaa Rescue Department told YLE. Rescuers located the pair about five metres from a boat ramp at Mallasvesi in Valkeakoski; both were unresponsive. Rescue crews and paramedics performed resuscitation on site and transported the divers to hospital, but both later died. The victims were from another municipality and were born in the 1980s and 1990s, YLE reported. Regional police are investigating the cause of death but say they will not release further details, citing the confidentiality of death investigations.
