Sport struck twice in the first period through Brett Harrison (6:15, 13:00). Erik Borg pulled Ilves back to 2–1 at 15:32, but the visitors could not equalize. Ilves piled up chances, 71 shots to Sport’s 29, yet could not get past Masi Härkönen. He finished with 31 saves; Ilves goaltender Mantas Armalis had 10.
Ilves mounted a late push, pulling their goalie and creating power-play chances, but Vaasan Sport kept them at bay. Attendance was 4,366. Ilves returns home Friday, October 9 to face Lukko at Nokia Arena in a themed Green Game highlighting mental health support with Mieli ry; tickets remain on sale.
