49-ton Metso crusher anchors Isot Koneet giant machines display at Tampere's Keskustori
A 49-ton Metso stone crusher anchors the fifth Isot Koneet exhibition of giant machines at Tampere’s Keskustori on Saturday.
A 49-ton Metso stone crusher is on display at Tampere’s Keskustori on Saturday, forming the centrepiece of the fifth Isot Koneet giant-machines exhibition. The event is open to the public from 10:00 to 16:00, Tamperelainen reports.
Tampere Exhibition project manager Sami Siurola said the crusher is the heaviest machine at the show. The second-heaviest is a 43-ton geothermal drilling rig from Geocadia Machines, capable of boring as deep as two kilometres.
Also on display are Sandvik surface and tunnel drills; the tunnel model usually operates about 100 metres below ground, so seeing it on the surface is notable. Forestry fans can see a John Deere harvester fitted with the manufacturer's largest head, which can cut a 76-centimetre tree in one pass.
Eighteen exhibitors are taking part. Friday was aimed at students; Saturday is open to everyone, and organisers expect roughly 12,000 visitors.
The display coincides with Metso's plans to move rock-crushing production to a Lahdesjärvi factory, freeing the Hatanpää site for housing Metso's Lahdesjärvi move. It also follows the return of Konepaja and allied machine-industry exhibitions to Tampere earlier this year the Konepaja trade fairs.
