Viinikka’s 95‑year‑old Lankarullakiosk is expanding into winter and spring, adding deliveries, merchandise, events and a mobile kitchen. The owners hope the changes will turn the kiosk into a local cultural attraction.

Reima Halkosaari and Niko Sydänheimo reopened Viinikka's 95-year-old Lankarullakiosk as a kiosk and grill in April and are now rolling out winter and spring services and products in Viinikka, Tampere, according to Tamperelainen. The expansion follows the kiosk's April reopening.

Since reopening, customers have come from across Finland and abroad. The entrepreneurs are expanding operations: home delivery via Wolt is already in place, with Uber Eats arriving soon. They have signed up with Resq for surplus food, launched a meal pass that gives every tenth meal free, and offer a 10 percent student discount. Halkosaari has broadened the vegetarian selection and highlighted a mushroom burger made with oyster mushrooms from Satohuone. "It's a hit product in Germany," he said. The kiosk serves the burger with three to four mushroom patties.

The summer ice-cream hut beside the kiosk will be converted into a harvest and winter shop selling seasonal wreaths, reflective fox accessories and branded merchandise such as beanies, caps, tote bags, hoodies, shirts and figurines. Plans for the coming months include showy winter lighting and serving mulled wine at Christmas. A December charity drive to support local children's sports is likely, and if snow allows there may be a small sledding run on the lawn behind the kiosk. Next spring the kiosk will add a mobile kitchen to serve local events and private parties with pancake and grill tent services. Halkosaari hopes the changes will help secure the site's cultural-historical status on Tampere's list of local attractions.
