Akaa launches Hunajaiset tarinat — Romantic Literature Day — for Hunajahulinat
Hunajaiset tarinat — a Romantic Literature Day — will be held on Friday 22 August as a side event to the Hunajahulinat festival in Akaa, bringing authors, readers and publishing professionals together.
According to a press release, Hunajaiset tarinat — a Romantic Literature Day — will be held on Friday 22 August as a side event to the Hunajahulinat festival, bringing authors, readers and publishing professionals together.
The day will focus on contemporary trends within romantic fiction, including subgenres such as romantic fantasy that have been growing especially among younger readers, organisers say. The programme will include author visits, panel discussions and book sales with participating bookstores and publishers.
A call for programme ideas is open until 7 June 2026; submissions must relate to romantic literature, suit all ages and can range from author interviews and book tips to other creative concepts. Those selected will be notified by 18 June 2026.
The event grew out of a conversation at last year’s Hunajatori market between town planner Anniina Grönholm and library director Sari Seitajärvi.
"A feel-good event that fits naturally into Hunajahulinat and Akaa's brand as the honey capital," organisers say. They hope the day will encourage reading, strengthen community ties highlighted in the city strategy and draw visitors from elsewhere in Pirkanmaa, while offering a low-threshold, genre-focused gathering that is currently uncommon for romantic fiction.
