Akaa will host Honeyed Stories, a day of romantic fiction events including author visits, panels and book sales, on Friday 22 August as part of the town’s summer honey celebrations.

According to a press release from ePressi, Akaa will stage Honeyed Stories, a day devoted to romantic literature, on Friday 22 August as part of the town’s summer honey celebrations.

The day will focus on the expanding and diverse romantic fiction genre, including subgenres such as romantic fantasy that are especially popular with younger readers. Organisers describe Honeyed Stories as a low-threshold event intended to give the genre its own space; few similar genre-specific events currently exist.

The programme will feature author visits, panel discussions and book sales, with participation from local bookstores and publishers. Readers and creators are invited to submit proposals — they must relate to romantic literature and suit all ages. Ideas may include author interviews, book recommendations or discussion panels. The call for proposals is open until 7 June 2026, and successful applicants will be notified by 18 June 2026.

The idea for Honeyed Stories grew out of conversations at Akaa’s Honey Market last year between planner and cultural-route developer Anniina Grönholm and library director Sari Seitajärvi. Organisers hope the event will support reading, strengthen the community ties highlighted in Akaa’s strategy and attract visitors from elsewhere in Pirkanmaa, raising the town’s cultural profile.
