Laaksola to host Kaikuja showcase and Bee Art project this autumn

Two exhibitions will open at Laaksola cultural house this autumn. Kaikuja runs 3–25 October 2026; the Bee Art project runs 14 November 2026–31 January 2027 and is produced by film cooperative Cagliostro.

Akaa Cultural Services says Kaikuja gives local Akaa visual artists the chance to submit one to five works from the past three years for consideration in a curated show. Submissions are accepted on Monday 28 September from 5–6 pm at Laaksola, Saunatie 4. Works should be ready to hang and labeled with the artist's name, title, technique and year. Art doctor Harri Laakso will judge the entries; there is a €10 review fee. The exhibition opens with a reception on Saturday 3 October at 1 pm and is open on Saturdays and Sundays 11 am–3 pm. Admission is free.

Produced by film cooperative Cagliostro, Bee Art examines bees and honey through cultural, historical and artistic lenses and highlights Akaa's beekeeping traditions. The programme includes themed VHS videos and films made in collaboration with a Tampere VHS club, displays on honey in world cuisines and material on the cultural history of honey and beekeeping. The exhibition launches on 14 November with an opening between 11 am and 3 pm. The Bee Art project was previously announced to launch at Toijala railway station in spring 2026 the international Bee Art project's spring launch at Toijala station, and this autumn's Laaksola programme continues that event series.

Bee Art will be on view on five consecutive Saturdays in November–December 2026; January opening hours will be announced later. On-site workshops tied to exhibition dates include candle-making sessions on 21 and 28 November and honey-themed music sessions for children on 12 December. Admission to the exhibition and workshops is free. Workshop participation is arranged on-site, and weekday visits can be scheduled in advance with Akaa Cultural Services.

Both shows are organised in partnership with Akaan Kuvataiteilijat ry and film cooperative Cagliostro, reflecting a mix of community-led visual art and film-based projects at Laaksola this autumn. Local artists and residents are invited to take part, whether by submitting work to Kaikuja or attending the Bee Art events and related workshops.
