Aleksanterinkatu Block Party Brings 30+ Shops and Street Programming to Tampere Saturday

Aamulehti reports Aleksanterinkatu Block Party returns to central Tampere on Saturday, September 19. More than 30 brick-and-mortar shops from Aleksanterinkatu and nearby streets will offer special deals and daytime programming.
The daylong street event is part of a busy autumn weekend in the city, joining several other festivals and markets scheduled across Tampere.
Hämeenpuisto hosts international market stalls from September 17–20. Hours are Thursday–Saturday 10:00–20:00 and Sunday 10:00–18:00. The market features food, ingredients, clothing, handicrafts and carnival rides for children.
Mukamas runs September 16–20 at venues including Teatteri Mukamas, Laikku and Dance Theatre MD. The festival showcases modern puppet performances for both children and adults and highlights domestic companies such as Company Portmanteau and Grus Grus Theatre. Live music rounds out the listings. Troubadour band Kalevauva.fi plays at Telakka on Friday and Saturday at 21:00, and may include a song titled “Tampere” in its set. Punk fans should head to Hervanta on Friday night when Varjobaar hosts tribute bands, with Control covering The Clash and Modern World covering The Jam. Doors open at 22:00 and tickets cost €10 in cash.
