Alko is adding 20 Sunday-opening stores in the Tampere region, bringing the total serving customers on Sundays to 55, and all Alko stores will be open on All Saints' Day (October 31).

All Alko stores in the Tampere region will be open on All Saints' Day, October 31. This autumn Alko is adding 20 Sunday-opening stores, bringing the total number serving customers on Sundays to 55.

The expansion adds Sunday service at Pirkkala's Partola Alko and the Alko inside Lielahti Citymarket, Tamperelainen reports. Previously only the Alko in Kaleva Prisma and the Sokos store in Tampere had been open on Sundays.

Alko introduced wider Saturday and Sunday hours in July, and business director Kari Pennanen says the longer openings have drawn positive customer feedback, higher visit numbers and increased sales.

More Alko stores will also be open on several holidays. All stores will be open on All Saints' Day (October 31), and the Sunday-opening shops will operate on Independence Day (December 6), St. Stephen's Day (December 26), New Year's Day (January 1, 2027) and Epiphany (January 6, 2027).

All outlets will operate until 13:00 on Christmas Eve and at least until 18:00 on New Year's Eve. The change follows recent retail schedule adjustments in the region, such as Pirkkalan Prisma's schedule change earlier this year.
