Amuri Museum Quarter reopens with public sauna, theatre run and summer events

According to the City of Tampere, Amuri Museum Quarter in Tampere has reopened for the summer. Visitors can take part in daily guided tours, with an English introduction offered at 12:30 from June through September.

Amuri Museum Quarter consists of five original residential buildings and four yard buildings. The site also features several operating services and shops, including a public sauna, bakery, cobbler's workshop, cooperative shop, as well as a paper store and a grocery store.

Guided tours run Tuesday–Sunday, ranging from short introductions to hour-long neighbourhood walks. An English introduction is offered daily at 12:30 from June through September.

Aamulehti notes that Amurin Helmi café, voted Best Tampere Café 2025, serves coffee, traditional bakery products and weekday soup lunches, and keeps longer opening hours during the summer. The museum shop sells nostalgic souvenirs, and a renewed service point has been set up at the entrance.

The summer programme includes a plant swap day on 6 June, three Senior Wednesdays (14 June, 12 July and 22 August), a children's midweek event on 22 July, and six park concert afternoons (7 and 14 June, 5 and 19 July, and 2 and 16 August). A communal picnic evening is planned for 28 August.

Evenings bring theatre: Tukkateatteri presents Melkein ihmisiä, adapted and co-directed by Katri Häti and Mia-Annette Latvus, on stage at the museum quarter from 3 June to 15 August 2026.

Aamulehti adds that the museum sauna will be heated for the first time on 27 May and will be open to the public for ten booked evenings, with separate sessions for women and men. After the public sessions, private groups can reserve the sauna.
