Tampere outdoor pool reopens May 8 with family events and extended hours
Tampere's outdoor swimming pool reopens for the season on Friday 8 May 2026, with extended hours and family events including a Start-to-Summer day, children's swim courses, music sessions and a moonlight swim.
The City of Tampere says Tampere’s outdoor swimming pool reopens for the season on Friday 8 May 2026, with extended opening hours and family-focused programming.
A Start-to-Summer event on Saturday 6 June from 10:00 to 15:00 will offer activities aimed at families. The day begins at the nearby children's traffic park at 10:00, where kids can practice traffic rules on their own bikes or scooters or try a shared pedal car; the traffic park will also be officially opened. At 12:00 the programme moves to the outdoor pool, focusing on swimming as a life skill, practical tips for developing swimming ability and demonstrations of lifesaving techniques. Children aged 4–16 enter free when accompanied by a paying guardian. The city is organising the event together with local Tampere swimming clubs.
Paid swim courses for children start early in the season: a pool-based course for hesitant or non-swimming children aged six and up runs from 1–12 June with morning sessions 09:00–10:05. Additional paid lessons will run in indoor pools during the summer, and free beach swimming lessons will be offered at bathing beaches in July. Registration for all courses opens 18 May at 09:00 via https://liikkumaan.tampere.fi.
Musical Summervibes Reloaded sessions with DJ Juissi take place on Saturdays 11 July, 25 July, 1 August and 22 August from 13:00–15:00. A moonlight swim with soft jazz is scheduled for Friday 22 September. A trailer sauna will be available on Friday evenings in September until the season ends; pool hours are extended to 22:00 during that month.
Midsummer opening times are 19 June 07:00–14:00 (Midsummer Eve) and 20 June 13:00–20:00 (Midsummer Day).
