Armalis’s Sixth Shutout Secures Ilves' 1–0 Win Over KalPa
Ilves beat KalPa 1–0 at Nokia Arena as Ondřej Kos scored early and Mantas Armalis made 22 saves for his sixth shutout of the season.
Ilves edged KalPa 1–0 at Nokia Arena ahead of the international break. Ondřej Kos scored at 6:06, and goaltender Mantas Armalis made 22 saves in front of 5,462 spectators.
Kos's goal grew out of a slick fourth-line sequence, finished after passes from Timi Teuho-Markkola and Jaakko Lantta. Ilves dominated the opening period, outshooting KalPa 18–6.
KalPa pushed hard in the middle and final periods and earned multiple power plays. Armalis produced several timely stops, including a highlight save on Hugo Gallet, to preserve the narrow lead.
The three points lift Ilves to second place in the Liiga. The team returns from the international break to host Pelicans on 11 November.
The shutout was Armalis's sixth of the season, following blankings of Jokerit in Helsinki on Oct. 10 and Jukurit in Mikkeli on Oct. 23.
