California Teen Flies to Tampere After Father Falls for Finnish Rap
An 18-year-old from California flew to Tampere to attend Blockfest after his father discovered Finnish rap on the festival’s Spotify playlist, Tamperelainen reports.
Ethan Vomacka, 18, flew from California to Tampere just to attend Blockfest, Tamperelainen reports. The festival at Ratina Stadium, which organisers expect to draw around 80,000 visitors and features US headliners Yeat, Future and Offset, provided the setting organisers' estimate of 80,000 visitors and headliners.
A round-up of standout festival outfits in the paper included Ethan's story. His father discovered the festival’s official Spotify playlist and fell in love with Finnish rappers, which prompted the trip. Ethan, a self-described fashion fan, gets most of his clothes from a friend who resells garments; his favourite detail is a row of embossed crosses down the back of his T-shirt. He says the language barrier does not bother him. "Good music is always good music," he said.
Others at the festival shared quick wardrobe stories. Tea Ojala, 19, and Iida Ullven, 20, put together matching looks at short notice, buying hats and shirts to pair with items from their closets, and named the cowboy hats the highlight. Henrik Suolahti, 21, kept his outfit simple but picked a bold colour on purpose; he has several looks ready for Saturday and will choose depending on the weather.
