Cyclist injured at crossing on Pispala main road in third recent collision
A cyclist was injured at a pedestrian crossing on Pispalan valtatie in Hyhky at about 17:15; police are investigating and treating the case as endangering traffic safety for both parties.
The crash happened at about 17:15 in the Hyhky area and emergency services were called to the scene.
Authorities say a car was travelling east on the road and was approaching a traffic-light junction when the cyclist, coming downhill, was crossing the road. Police and emergency medical services attended. The sequence of events is under investigation and the case is being handled as endangering traffic safety for both parties. Tuomas Luhtaniemi, detective chief inspector at the Central Finland Police, declined to comment on the seriousness of the cyclist’s injuries.
The stretch has seen several recent incidents, including a late-August fatal crash that killed a pedestrian. Luhtaniemi urged road users to stay alert and expect others may not notice or react, saying, “Take a little speed off and glance a couple more times, and you can avoid unpleasant situations.” Aamulehti reported the incident after receiving a tip from a reader.
